NCC – Linking Composites To Commercial Industries
The National Composite Center (NCC) is using a unique commercialization approach to unlock mainstream markets. As a result, NCC is rapidly developing smart commercial composite solutions, identifying technology transfer opportunities, introducing new manufacturing methods and helping to produce new composite products and business enterprises.
A few of those solutions include projects to develop a lightweight, but stronger composite material for collapsible hospital gurneys used in ambulances using a patented precision filament winding technology. NCC is also exploring ways to reduce the cost of a roll wrap application to create a composite cane. The cane would be as light as aluminum, yet stronger and would not have to be replaced as often.
