Ohio is one of the nation’s industrial leaders, ranking first in composites and third in manufacturing employment nationwide. Strategically located near Dayton , with its rich heritage of innovation and invention, NCC has carried that tradition forward by helping to take the region’s core strengths - aerospace, automotive and infrastructure – and entrench these markets with composite applications.
At NCC we want to keep Ohio positioned as the industry leader for composites. To do that, we’ve tapped the area’s wealth of resources to create something special. Our ongoing work with Wright-Patterson AFB, key composite researchers like Ohio State, The University of Dayton Research Institute, Wright State University, Sinclair Community College, the University of Toledo and the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) and industry partners has given us the key ingredients we needed to establish and build “Composite Valley” right here in the heart of Ohio. The results have been dramatic.
Our growing intellectual property portfolio includes licensing of composite mono-leaf spring technology to Dayton-based Liteflex LLC. The Center’s supportive incubation environment has assisted composite companies such as WebCore Technologies, Inc to grow its proprietary fiber reinforced foam core products, capture new market shares and then take its place in the business community as an independent presence. NCC innovations in manufacturing processes have helped outside commercial businesses like Lion Apparel create new product lines. The Center has spun off new businesses like Vector Composites Inc. to handle production for aerospace and defense and Composite Advantage LLC to help businesses that do not traditionally use composites integrate the technology. The Center is teamed with Composites One, NCC’s sole distributor for its Rapid Fiber Preforming technology for North America .
We’re excited to tell you that Composite Valley is growing. The North Central Campus for Emerging Technology (NCC-ET) was established by The Findlay Hancock County Chamber of Commerce and NCC. NCC-ET will not only be able to access our resources but those of key businesses, organizations and universities in Northern Ohio . By keeping Ohio at the forefront, NCC and its dynamic partners are also positioning the state to serve as a springboard to bring high performance, cost effective composite technology to customers across the United States.
